Valley was declared a national park in 1982 and now it is a World Heritage Site. While trekking towards
Valley of Flowers, one can experience the beauty of shining peaks fully covered with snow. One can also see the beautiful view of surrounding greenery and various running streams with crystal clear water. The valley is home to many celebrated flowers like the
BrahmaKamal , The Blue Poppy and the Cobra Lilly . It is a much sought after haunt for flower-lovers, botanists and of course trekkers.Apart from the flowering plants, wild animals like Himalayan birds, butterflies, Tendula, tail less rat, Musk deer, phigents, Himalayan bear etc. are enchanting the beauty too. The Valley of Flowers is an irresistible treat for zoologists, environmentalists, pilgrims.

• Opening Date of Valley of Flowers - The area is open only during summer from June to October and it is covered by heavy snow for the rest of the year.

☆ Seasons
In May - The Valley of flowers becomes accessible in the last week of May when snow starts melting. In the month of May you will see a lot of snow but very less number of flowers. Advantage in visiting in May is that there will be no to less rain as the rainy season starts in the last week of June.
In June - Specific flowers can be seen in this month. Also you can enjoy watching huge and beautiful glaciers, waterfalls in the Valley of Flowers . The biggest benefit in visiting in this month is that there will be very less to no rain. (Rain triggers landslide in this area and your plan may be affected). Rainy season starts only in June end or in first week of July.
In July and August - As snow starts melting in May and new plants starts germinating and grow up till now. You will see a lot of flowers blooming till mid July. There are almost 650 varieties of flowers in total that can be seen in Valley of Flowers . The Best time to see maximum number of flowers is mid July to Mid August.
In September - The September is the Autumn season of Valley of Flowers . This is the last month for visiting valley of flower. The plants starts drying up and put their seeds on the earth for the next season. Slowly at the end of the month and in the Next Month snow starts falling and the Valley becomes inaccessible.
The Last official trip to Valley of Flowers is generally taken in the last week of September. The pristine water of Pushpawati River divides this enchanting Valley into two parts. Capture thick dew drops on the vivid flowers, listen to the chirping of birds and enjoy the salubrious air of the Himalayas. The locals always knew about the existence of the
Valley and believed that it was inhabited by fairies. The region is also rich in varied fauna and you might encounter Himalayan bear, snow leopard, musk deer, blue sheep and several colourful butterflies.

☆ How to Reach ☆
Govindghat is the nearest bus stand which is around 16.5 K.m. away from the Valley of Flowers . The nearest major town is Joshimath in Garhwal , which has convenient road connections from Haridwar and Rishikesh. From Delhi, one can take the train to Haridwar and then travel by bus to Govindghat via Rishikesh. The trek route to Valley of Flowers from Ghangaria is changed after 2013 floods in the area. The new route is steeper.
● Things to carry when you Trek to Valley of Flower - Recommendations or guidelines what to bring -
 • Windcheater or lightweight jacket because temperatures are very low specially in night time and mornings even in June .
• Lightweight trousers or pants and Short .
• Lightweight Umbrella .
• A note book or writing paper and pen (Optional ) .
• Strong and sturdy duffle bag .
• Small torch with spare batteries . (Important). There will be no electricity after 9 pm. You will need it .
• Water bottle .
• Walking boots / trekking shoes. If you are buying new boots for this trip please ensure they are well broken in before hand. Few things will make you more miserable during the trek than blisters. You need to cross some shallow rivers using them (Some time jumping over round stones in shallow rivers). It is better to have shoes which does not get wet easily .
• Some dry fruits like Fig, Cashew nut and Almonds. Also some chocolates can be bought, idea is to have high energy low weight food items while trekking .
● Note - Tourists are not allowed to stay overnight in the Valley of Flowers and therefore there is no accommodation in the Park. You can stay at private lodges and hotels at Ghangaria, the base camp for your trek to the Valley of Flowers.
● Road Route (Haridwar to Govindghat 295 K.m.) -
Haridwar - Rishikesh - Rudraprayag - Karnprayag - Joshimath -( Direction By Google Map )Govindghat .
Ghangaria is located 11.5 K.m. away from Govindghat . After crossing the Alaknanda River, one reaches an ascending bridle path along Bhyundar Ganga that leads to Ghangaria. The valley is 5 kms from here. Nearest airport is in Dehradun and the nearest railways is in Rishikesh railway station.
• Govindghat to Ghangaria - 11.5 K.m.(On foot or by horses etc. )
• Ghangaria to Valley of Flowers- 5 Kms.( on foot or by horses etc. )
• District - Chamoli.
• Nearest Town - Joshimath.
• Best Time to Visit - From Mid July to Mid August.
